Dr Slade Walker BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS (Equine Dentistry)

Senior Equine Veterinarian & Practice Owner

A 'local kid' of Dayboro growing up, Slade knew where he was destined to practice as a Veterinarian post-graduation... as they say, there's no place like home!

Slade graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons) in 1999, kicking off his career in a busy mixed-practice in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane - primarily working with dairy cattle, horses and companion animals. After several years Slade ventured to the UK, working in busy mixed-veterinary practices for three years before returning to Australia where he purchased the 'Old Sawmill" in Dayboro, transforming the historic site into the modern, mixed-animal practice he'd always aspired to have.

Despite Slade's expertise and skill for the treatment of all animals great and small, his passion has always been for the veterinary care of horses, especially in the field of Equine Dentistry; in 2010, Dr Slade advanced his expertise by attaining his MANZCVS in Equine Dentistry, awarded by the Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists - an achievement which is reflective of his expertise and advanced skill in the field of Equine Dentistry.

Beyond the demands of his Equine Veterinary Practice, Slade is a dad of two young children, often taking the kids off to their respective sports of a weekend (quite often Slade's the team coach too!), and he also enjoys his downtime with family and friends, hitting the gym, or taking the kids up the coast for the weekend.
